A Step-by-Step Guide to Grantwriting Print E-mail
More money for your mission.

This 3-part comprehensive seminar will educate attendees on several facets of the grant-writing process, enabling you to write more persuasive grants. You will learn how to conduct grants research, develop a needs statement, create a budget, and assemble the proposal package. Coursework will cover the fundamental aspects of grant-writing, a guide for developing a workable budget narrative request, and strengthening relations with public and private funding agencies. This “a la carte” workshop is designed to allow you to pick and choose the workshop sessions that meet your organizational needs. You are encouraged to bring a grant proposal that you are currently working on to the workshop.

Day 1, Session I: Essential Elements of a Grant Proposal
This entire day will focus on examining the critical elements of a grant proposal, which includes preparing to write the grant, matching your needs with the funder’s needs, types of funders, the narrative, goals and
objectives, and how to cultivate and strengthen beneficial relationships with funders. Lunch will be provided for this session.

Day 2, Session II: Developing a Grant Budget
One critical issue all grant-writers encounter when developing a budget request is determining how much money to ask for and how to justify the amount. Participants will learn the difference between direct versus indirect expenses, and calculating potential in-kind contributions.

Day 2, Session III: Submission, Managing, and Renewal
This session will focus on the final steps in the proposal development process and describe what typically occurs after a proposal is submitted. Participants will review a sample grant and learn the evaluation process, along with an introduction to grants management.

Presented by: TBA

Lunch will be provided on Day 1.

A working lunch will be provided on Day 2 as the workshop will end at 3:00 and not 4:00 PM.
