Does my organization need insurance?
| FAQs - Management FAQ's |
It is a good idea for all organizations to assess their risks and insurance needs, although it is often difficult for small organizations to afford liability insurance and other types of insurance. Some Board members will not serve on Boards that do not offer Directors and Officers liability insurance, and some organizations have high liability risks, such as those who work extensively with children or the elderly. The Mississippi Center for Nonprofits has developed an insurance program for nonprofit organizations with the independent insurance agency of Ross & Yerger in Mississippi. Contact Dudley Wooley of Ross & Yerger at (601) 944-0958 or 800-844-5500 or the Mississippi Center for Nonprofits at (601) 968-0061. A national resource for publications and information on risk and liability issues is the Nonprofit Risk Management Center at (202) 785-3891.
