The best way to get more information about a specific nonprofit organization is to contact that organization directly and request information such as an annual report, brochures, a copy of their Form 990, or other information. You can look up most organizations on the Internet at the www.guidestar.com. Many larger organizations are rated by the National Charities Information Bureau (NCIB) or the Philanthropic Advisory Service of the Better Business Bureau.  Information about some nonprofit organizations in Mississippi is available through the Mississippi Center for Nonprofits, but the Center does not rate or certify charities.
