Think about what your priorities are, and research organizations using www.GuideStar.org  or other services, or by actually visiting them. Make sure that the organization(s) you are interested in are registered to solicit for funds in Mississippi, or are exempt from registration. (Churches are exempt from this requirement. Call the office of the Secretary of State at (601) 359-1633 or (800) 256-3494 for a report on registered charities.  This report includes fund raising and administration cost percentages reported by the organization(s), but be cautious in interpreting these numbers without additional information.)
